                   THE PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT

The ancient Egyptian civilization began many years before its historic period. This era was known as the prehistoric period. Scientists say that people lived in Egypt 250,000 years ago. A great deal of history occurred during those many years. It was then that the ancient Egyptian civilization was formed.

 

King Menes was the first king, and the dynasties of the Pharoahs began with him.

 

Ancient Egyptian history was divided into 31 dynasties. These dynasties were grouped into 8 sections of time or Periods.

 

The religion of ancient Egypt began as local religions. Most of ancient Egyptian relgions consist of rituals and magic. People sometimes visited the temples with food offerings to God.

 

The pyramids were the tombs of the Pharaohs. Ancient Egyptians believed that Pharaohs were gods. Thus they called their tombs “House of Gods”. The pyramids are the famous buildings in Egypt.
